~ My Mom ~

She put her eager hands about my life
and led me out into the bright new day.
The clean, cool wind blew through my laughing hair.
All wonder glowed upon my waiting face.
She taught me how to love all small and tender things.
She showed me how to mix the wind and rain
into peaceful lullabies.
She taught me about the secret heart of flowers.
We practiced how the robin loves his soul.
She showed me how a rain-pool holds the world.
How I could give a sunset-full of love.

  1. Margie, I am so glad that you started again to write your poetry!
This is a beautiful poem made me think about my Mom who died last year. She was my everything and my world was scattered in many tiny pieces and became so small.
You have a unique talent to write poetry that touches our hearts and souls.
All my very best to you from me.

    1. Kaya, I am so sorry your mom died last year. It’s so hard to lose those that we love so much. I think I will be grieving for my sister for the rest of my life. May the memory of your mom always be a blessing. Thank you so much for your kind words on my poem.

  2. These word brought a smile to my face. You have succinctly brought together beautiful words to bring back memories of what it is to be guided by such love to enjoy the seemingly simple things in life.

    1. Thank you so much Sandra for your visit and kind words
      So appreciated.
BTW, your post was beautiful today.
I did not have time to leave a comment as my little grandson who I am taking care of today wanted my undivided attention .
He just went down for a little nap and nanny gets a break and I need one . Coffee on the agenda . Lol.

      1. Yes, Sandra, I needed a break from my beautiful grandson. He is the sweetest little guy in the world but likes all my attention when I am with him and I always give it to him. But this morning when I was visiting your blog he let out the loudest scream, “Nanny” and I quickly attended to him. LOL His name is Nolan and the little angel was born with a cleft lip and cleft palate and has had two surgeries so far. He will need many more surgeries! I am at the present time helping him with his speech as it is delayed but he is doing great and lights my heart up with such joy! 🙂
Thank you again for the kind words!

  3. This one is beautiful. I wish I had a closer relationship with my mom. I love her, don’t get me wrong. And she’s been a good mom. But we aren’t “close”. It’s surface. And I have NO relationship with my father. It causes a strain between me and my mom.
She won’t acknowledge all the things he did and STILL does to hurt and abuse our family. She just stays oblivious. It’s this while thing. 😐
