Grief has its rhythm - first the wild
swift tide of dark despair
the time of bleak aloneness ~
When even God's not there
and then the slow receding
till quiet calms the sea
and bare, washed sand is everywhere
where castles used to be ~
The gentle lapping of the waves
upon the shore - and then
the pearl-lined shells of memories
to help us smile again ~

Yes,so true. Part of life we all must face, often times, more than what seems bearable.

Yes, Geraldine, the grief is something we all must bear but it is so very hard! Time really does not ease the pain much but I believe the grief is a testament to the love we have felt for those we have lost! They will always be a part of our lives and their beautiful memories live on in our hearts!

wow, you wrote this so well – I’ve known that grief way too much in my family. Your words are beautiful and so are the memories when we get through the grief.

Sandy, thank you! Your kind words meant a lot! Yes, grief brings the memories! I am blessed with a bountiful of beautiful memories of my sister. But, it’s so hard not having her here with me! I am sorry for your losses!

Beautiful. A lovely level of metaphor (I don’t like when it’s too much!).
